Monday is the final submission deadline and i have everything prepared. I have three folders called Artist, Animation and Technical and in these three folders i have placed all the work i did for Wolali Go Pacha film. So tomorrow i shall submit my CD to Dan Dalli before 10:30am so i can be free!

Binding Pasha Character Rig & Left Wolali Go Pacha Group

Over the easter break i gave my rig file of Pacha character to Al to bind for me with paint weight tool so i can do some animation. So he just gave the file to me now which is 19th of May, so overall he had kept the file over 1month now after due to he has been busy with other project. But when i have recieve the file to start some animation it was still distorted and was like before i gave him, here is the result of the file i have been given:

So as i got this file so late and the deadline coming up and i have alot to do with the Glitch project i am not going to have any time to fix this binding issue and also i have asked other students to bind for me but they told me they have alot to do with their own project. So i am going to leave it as it is and submit just the rig it self and not binded :(.

Also i have left Wolali Go Pacha Group due to not having any feedback from the team leader Maciej, i have not seen him in uni this term so thefore i havent been given any task to do. So i have made my other Glitch film as my main project:).
So overall this yr, for Wolali Go Pacha film i have done the following task:

This is my personal schedule that i did for the 2nd term, which includes two short films, which is Glitch and WoLali Go Pasha.

Next project leader Maciej wanted me to produce a basic blockout of his opening scene of what he had produced (refer to above video), so i then used his video and translated it to basic 3d version of Wolali Go Pacha opening scene.

Pasha Facial Rig

Next I started facial rig for my character, the following image's includes the control rigs that i have produced also example's of my blendshapes facial expressions of working facial rig.

Below is a lip sync test that I have done to see if the mouth is working in contrast to the audio. I believe that this test has worked, just to show a working head rig. Because this movie has been converted in low version in order to upload onto this blogger, the audio has been delayed abit at the end.

Next I rigged my character, the following image's includes the control rigs that i have produced also the rig has fist and ik/fk blend for the wrist control and foot roll for the foot control.

Finally i have assembled my textures that i have produced earlier on Photoshop and placed them into Pasha body also i added bump files which were in black and white to the hair, jumper and jeans so that it does not look like flat image and that it feels as if it is sticking out. So this is the final outcome of Pasha character model.

Eye Texture

As for the eye texture, i have used ramp to have 3 different colours or file to the eye. This is the following eyes colours/file that was used to create eye texture:

white background with red veins
brown eye colour with water 2d texture in Maya to create repeat of wavy lines
black dot on the center of the eye

For the extra skin of the corner of the eye, i have used phong pink/purple shader.

I then used Photoshop to texture and paint the UV's of each part of Pasha's body, this is the outcome i have produced.

I then imported the UV's back to Maya and started using UV texture editor to flatten the UV's and placed them to each of the boxes in UV texture editor since they are going to have different textures on.

Next i will save these UV's separatly into jpeg and start texture them in Photoshop.

UV Layout

I then started to separating the UV of the Model by using the program UV Layout, this program is one method of separating UVs. It is quick and simple and does a fantastic job rather than Maya's UV Editor. So I first exported the body of the character as obj format into UV Layout and started to Separate the head, torso, legs, hands and feet. Below are two images of this process.

Separating the UV, above image you can see different UV body from the character this is because these will have different textures on.

3D Pasha Character Model

Below are images of Pasha character model, which was produced in Maya. As you can see I have spent alot of time working on the head, hands and feet as I want these features to be realistic as possible. Also the character will be wearing v neck jumper and t-shirt underneath that and jeans.

I then smoothed the model with the divisions attributes 2 to add that realistic look to the character, this is the final outcome of pasha character model.

As you can see the above model i added some depth to the cheeks so it adds a faint line at the side of the nose also scaled in outer surrounding of the eye to get that realistic approach.

Above image is a model of a eye for the character, it has to layers, which are outer eye and inner eye. The outer eye will be transparency while the inner eye will have textured on also i have modeled the extra skin that human have at the corner side of the eye.

Above 3 images, i started modelling the hair. The way i have achieved this look is i used EP curve tool to draw the hair line to the style i wanted, which is from the model sheet that was sketch out. I then clicked on all of the curve lines and selected surface - loft, after that i used sculpt geometry tool to add some depth to the hair as you can see from the 3 images.

This Model sheet will be used to model Pasha character, i will have have him bare foot and longer face compare to above model sheet.

Below Alireza has done me a sketch of pacha face, front and side to help me model the pacha face.

After Effects

Next i took the render shots onto After Effects to modify the image into black and white but leave the colour yellow on the goal post with rain effect.

Environment Texture

Next i started texturing my environment, i decided to do basic texture due to the project leader Maciej wants his short film to be in black and white with the goal post yellow colour and graffiti on the wall so this is my final outcome that i have produced.

Crack and dirt on the road Bump map the image of the brick so it feels as if brick texture sticking out rather than a flat image Middle building is just a image plane Grifiti on wall which is in Polish Writing as this enviroment is set in Poland

Famous footballers in Poland, which are on the wall where the football pitch is, as this story is based on the character Pasha dream of being a professional footballer. Players include the following:

Mental Ray Physical Sky/Sun render

Well since i had 1day left before the deadline i went in to my environment blockout version 1 and added Mental Ray Physical Sky/Sun render option just to see the outcome. Well after doing that it clearly added much more detail and colour to the scene compare to my previous render shots.

Well if you remember i mention in my previous post that i will export the sketchup drawing from my concepts as obj then export to maya as experimentation, well when i did it worked, which i am really pleased also the outcome looks amazing as it looks identical and accurate to my concepts i created. Yet the object has lots of faces and edges, that came out triangles faces, which will have difficulties when texturing. This i will look into at 2nd term as i have my blockout version 1 as backup. Below are my results, as you can see from my concepts that the 2d become 3d accurately:

Well i have taken account of the feedback i got and this is my final outcome of the blockout that i have produce for Maciej. So for the next term i will use the blockout and create the environment with detail and with textures for the final piece. Also i will experiment with lighting and rendering for the post production. Below is the update version from the feedback i got.

I have met with Maciej and he was happy of the outcome i have produce, yet he wanted me to make few changes such as the following:

Remove the bench from the street
Make the street more longer so duplicate the buildings
Make the goal post out of proportion
Make the football pitch more wider so goal post smaller just like the referance images
Model a lamp post, to be placed on one of the building just like the reference images

Environment Concepts

Below are my environment concepts, i have used the program sketchup, i first drew on my tablet of the environment by hand then transfered to photoshop, which then i cleaned it out. Then used sketchup in order to get three dimension drawing and 3D effect. After the outcome i got i was thinking to export it as obj file so then the 2D becomes 3D so i can easily transfer it to Maya to save me time modelling but ill have to do few tweaking later stage. But for additional result i will model the blockout from scratch as well because i want to see the two results of export from sketchup to maya and maya it self so will see what happens.

Below three images are my sketch drawing, which i then cleaned it out by photoshop

Giving Task

So Maciej has given me the task of the environment artist role, so i then research reference of images of what i wanted my concepts to look like thinking in mind that the scene is set in Poland.
First of all Maciej wanted the buildings to look old, crooky and dirty so here's my reference images of the buildings that will help towards my concepts works and blockout designs.

The bottom three image has different colour on the outer window such as red, green and yellow, i will take this colours and use it towards the building design i produce.

Below image of a football pitch Maciej wants at the end of one of the building, he wanted the background wall to have painting writings, what looks like grifiti also the goal post to have strip of yellow paint on the each side of the post, just like the image below.

Just Joined wołali go Pacha Group

Its been 8 weeks now and i have decided to join Maciej group wołali go Pacha, ive decided to work with Maciej as i feel his story and theme is interesting and something different as i feel it will be challaging task for me since i never worked within live action animation before. Yet im prepare to take the task and challage myself as i feel that i can do this so finger cross.

Well so far Maciej has wrote the script that he has worked before as he is the team leader and when i red it, it made me feel that this story has meaning to it and its rather unique story where it revolves around the 16yr old protagonist and Maks past.
